The stomach flu… Heidi and I went down to Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with my family, and while we were down there we took another trip to South Georgia to visit my grandparents. The day after having stuffed myself with all sorts of tasty goodness, I was in a nursing home visiting my grandmother, as well as contracting the stomach flu (which was apparently being spread around the nursing home). In fact, of the 7 people that visited my grandmother, 6 of them ended up sick. Who was the lucky 1 person who managed to not get sick? No, it wasn’t me (haven’t you been reading?), it was Heidi. Yeah, Mrs. Strong Immune System herself. And thank goodness too, she’s done a great job taking care of me! Hopefully I’ll have this bug kicked tomorrow. And on that note, this post shall be brought to a close… as well as my evening.
Since this is our family blog, I felt like I should write a little about who I am, and why I’m the coolest guy in the world.
Heidi and I have this conversation frequently. We start off by saying that we wouldn’t want the extra cash to change how we live or who we are, but we end up with saying we’d buy a decked out $300k home, with a few cars, and some nice threads… and that was just for a mere $1 million dollar jackpot.{MORE}
Is there a middle ground where you can actually benefit from a large jackpot without letting it affect who you are? Could you realistically only spend what you need and continue to live in moderation? Theoretically, if you invested the whole million, and only used what you received in interest (mere 4% return) you would have an extra $40k per year, which could afford you quite a large house…
Here are the rules. This is a clean million. It’s somehow tax free. It would be paid by lump sum. And if you have a spouse, they are completely fine with whatever you want to spend it on.
Here’s what I would do:
My $3500 Monthly Interest check would:
Well, maybe not quite *that* often, even though there were some times in college where I exceeded the normal acceptable limits of good taste… but thats probably something i should keep to myself. (Heidi’s probably red with embarrassment, just for being associated with me).{MORE}
So back to the original intent of this post. We are moving… again. Whereto now? The glorious Sunblest Apartments in Fishers, where the grass is greener, the air is cleaner, and the quality of life exceeds even the wealthiest of individuals. Or in laymans terms, the rent is cheaper, the commute is shorter, and puppy rent is cheaper… not that we have a barking machine yet, but I have been told by my personal fortune-teller (aka, heidi) that a puppy is in our future… more puppy details at 11.
