ScotsAlumni.org - Covenant’s Journey into Online Social Communities

Covenant officially launched ScotsAlumni.org so that Covenant alumni could have one central place to stay in contact with all of their other alumni friends. They’ve provided us a great tool, that I’ve already used to make contact with several old friends. Unfortunately, as anything Covenant-related, there is a downside. {MORE} It appears as though they are exercising their right to censor the site, and the first 2 actions that have been taken were the removal of groups “Contract Breakers & Chapel Skippers” and “I am having awesome sex now that I am married.” Marshall has said it was due to their level of appropriateness…but I’m not really sure I buy that. As an alumni, what about those groups would be inappropriate? Neither of them advocate anything that is contrary to moral laws, government laws or even PCA doctrine. One group is the association of people who cheated and made mistakes (which if it were labeled as such, anyone could have joined) and the other is the association of those who are celebrating the marital bond that they enjoy with their spouses!

I think its a bit silly. It was bad enough that I signed a contract that I disagreed with, and seldomly attended a chapel service that I would have rather slept through, but now they are trying to censor the way I connect with other people? Now, if the name of the group was “Let’s go do hate crimes,” then I would understand the need of censorship, but c’mon now…

I need to start a group called “Alumnis Who Don’t Like Being Censored”…

My Toothless Wonder

Well, my little girl is growing up. We took her to Chicago this weekend for Easter & she had an absolute blast! She had so much fun that she’s slept for the past three days-its wonderful, really. :)

So, I got home from class last night & played with her first thing. But as we were playing I kept noticing that she was sticking her tongue out at me. Now she’s done quite a few things to ’show me who’s boss’, but sticking the tongue out was not one of them. So, me being the nosy mother that I am, stuck my fingers in her mouth to see if she was sucking on something. And then I saw it. Yup, the big ‘ol space where her bottom front teeth used to be. Now I swear they were there when I went to work yesterday morning, but they were definately gone now. We’ve counted and I think she’s lost 3 total. Honestly I had forgotten that puppies lose their teeth just like babies/kids. So now my toothless wonder tries to bite and she can’t…hahahaha. Apparently her teeth will continue to fall out as she gets her adult ones-its really kind of gross. I suppose I’ll have to vaccum more often now, I don’t want to be stepping on puppy teeth. I’ll put some more pictures of her up soon!

You Have to Wonder…

What goes through people’s heads sometimes? This is another story of the weird, or maybe I should say stupid. I can only imagine how my father would have reacted if one of us had been in that class. Take a look… Stupid People

Our House was Robbed!

Robbed, Stolen, Sold-before-we-even-had-a-chance-to-look-at-it… Its all the same.

Heidi and I found a neat little house on Tennessee Avenue, that we felt would be a great house for us to look into buying. It *seemed* to have most everything we were looking for,{MORE} though due to multiple MLS listings saying different things, we really didn’t know how cool the house actually was. Unfortunately for us, the house was unable to be shown due to the current tenants not allowing anyone inside. And after the tenants were finally gone, they locked the keys in the house and the seller went out of town. All we had was a couple photos of the exterior, tons of questions about the inside of the house, and no way to get a glimpse of the inside.

Well, to make a long story short, the real estate company was finally able to get in the house, only to find out that the inside was in ruins, and the house was barely valued at half the listing price. By the time they were able to call anyone or get it ready to show, some random guy just up and bought the place without even looking at it (apparently he had seen the house the last time it was listed, didn’t buy it then, and saw it back on the market and decided to go ahead and buy it).

It’s a shame. We feel robbed. Like we never had a fighting chance. Like we had wasted almost 2 months of waiting for more info on the house.

Time to move on I presume.
