One Week And Counting

One more week until home ownership. We had the opportunity to take another visit to the house on Saturday, and here’s a tribute photo.

Stress Management

I have never been good at managing stress-just ask my husband! I’ve gotten better over the years, but I am sure it will always be a work in progress. For some people, eating is a way to deal with their stress, but for me, sleep is my ‘cure’. {MORE} My appetite tends to drop a bit, and I get overly tired. Kyle has helped me immensely over the past 2 1/2 years learn how to not get so stressed, and when I do get stressed how to manage it. He has been an amazing husband and best friend, I couldn’t have asked for anyone better! Right now, we have a lot going on as a family. With Kyle begining a new job in Chattanooga, getting ready to close on a house, tring to finish school and with a baby on the way, it has been easy to let stress take over. Fortunately, Kyle has taken complete control of the house situation and let me pick out all of the things I want for the kitchen, bathroom, paint, etc. There have been a few times I’ve been overwhelmed, but again Kyle has been there to help his hormonally crazed pregnant wife work through it all. Right now Bailey & I are still up here in Indiana going to school (well not Bailey), and going through all of our stuff so we can get ready to pack. All in all, this little post is a dedication to my husband whom I love. Thank you for everything, and Bailey & I look forward to you coming home!!

Growing Baby

We went for our first visit to the doctor today, and let me just say it was amazing! First we found out that we are 11 weeks (almost 12 now), when we originally thought we were about 10 weeks. We met with the doctor, and I had a huge amount of blood taken-oh my gosh that was not fun. Kyle was great, and he kept trying to distract me while they filled numerous viles full of my blood. I made it through the bloodwork & almost got sick after it was all done-I’m such a wuss. And now the best part! {MORE} After we met with the doctor, she said we could possibly hear the baby’s heart beat, since we were at 11 weeks. I had no idea what to expect, but it was awesome. Kyle was sitting there still flipping through a magazine, and she put the little heart monitor on my stomach, and we could hear it right away. I couldn’t believe what an amazing sound it was!! Our little one is about an inch or so long, and his/her little heart was just beating like crazy. Meanwhile, Kyle is still reading the magazine thinking that it was my heart beat we were hearing. I finally had to tell him it was the baby’s heart, and then he too was amazed. :) The little heart beat was going to soo fast too. Apparently our hearts beat somewhere around 60 beats a minute, and the baby’s beats about 120 beats a minute. I finally feel like I am pregnant (besides all the icky feelings and such), and I’m so excited about this little miracle God has given us. Keep our little on in your prayers, and the next time we go, we’re going to record the heartbeat & we’ll put it up here so you can hear it too!

No post title is good enough for this post

Again I repeat, no post title is good enough for this post. No post title could effectively sum up the topics covered in this post. No post title can emphasize the importance of the events described in this post. However, a post title was needed.

For a couple years now Heidi and I have been anxiously looking at houses for sale in St. Elmo. We’ve come across several we have liked, and each time we were crushed when we found out it sold. Not that it mattered, because we lived 7hrs away and couldn’t afford a mortgage AND rent payments. But we kept looking regardless. We wanted to know what the housing market was like, so that when one day when we had the opportunity to move back to Chattanooga, we would feel comfortable making a quick decision on a house.{MORE}

That time has come.

Just a couple weeks after we got pregnant, I accepted a new job in Chattanooga. The company is good, the pay is good, we’ll have benefits, and they are going to let me telecommute until Heidi’s semester is over. What more could I ask for?

Oh yeah, a house.

Like I mentioned just a couple paragraphs ago, Heidi and I have been watching the St. Elmo housing market for quite a while now. We know that the market is steady right now. Earlier this year, the market was QUICKLY getting hot…prices were going through the roof. We were quite worried. Fortunately though, things calmed down and prices re-adjusted. On our way back from vacation, we had the opportunity to look at 2 huge victorian homes…both had immense potential, and immense pricetags to boot. We researched, talked, and researched some more, eventually deciding to move on. Over labor day we looked at 3 houses. The house we liked the least ended up being the house we liked the most. So much that we made an offer.

And then we waited.

Our offer was accepted! Well, it was countered, we were fine with the counter offer, and then it was accepted…but that doesn’t make a great story… So now, we are going through all the paperwork phase of the new house. We are very anxious to get possession and start working on it. Very anxious to finally have a place we can call our own. A place large enough to fit our growing family. A place with the potential to grow with us when we do grow out of it. A place where we don’t share a wall, or floor, with our noisy neighbors.

It’s a dream come true…an answer to prayers…a long time in the making.

We feel truly blessed.
